Once Clark had returned Maxima to her home planet, Almerache discussed with Lois what had happened. Maxima had made Clark think about soul mates and he wondered aloud to Lois if he would recognize his soul mate. Surprised that Chloe and Jimmy had not returned to their apartment yet, Clark and Lois began to investigate the situation, discovering that several engaged couples had been recently kidnapped. Lois and Clark posed as a couple in various shops to try to lure out the kidnapper. Clark was reluctant to do this, while Lois seemed to enjoy it.
